NEOCHORI
PSL is based in Neochori in South Pelion, located 40–50 minutes from Volos by car. One of the oldest yet lesser-known villages of the Pelion peninsula, Neochori occupies a strategic position between the Aegean Sea and the Pagasitikos Gulf, with views of both from its main square.
The village largely preserves its historic character, with many late nineteenth-century stone mansions emblematic of Pelion’s distinctive architectural style, while centuries-old plane trees shade its square and lanes.
Surrounded by forests, Neochori is distinguished by its rich and unique biodiversity. At nearly 500 meters above sea level, beech trees typical of South Pelion meet the olive and apple trees characteristic of lush North Pelion. Numerous hiking routes begin or pass through the village, some of which we will explore together.
The village square hosts three taverns known for their excellent cuisine, as well as a café-bar, grocery store, bakery and pharmacy.
Neochori is also home to a grassroots cultural initiative, efhorion zeen (“ευχώριον ζην,” meaning “to live joyfully and expansively), which publishes the journal Pelion’s Neochori: Ιmprints of Life and History, dedicated to building a collective archive of oral histories, documents, photographs and other records of local life.

NEOCHORI CULTURAL CENTRE
The seminars, workshops and screenings of PSL 7 will be hosted at the Neochori Cultural Centre. Constructed in the early 20th century as a boys’ school, the building has since been renovated and repurposed as an educational and cultural venue.
It features a 150 sq.m. hall with a stage, as well as a spacious courtyard for performances and events.
Fully accessible, the centre offers a welcoming and inspiring environment for collective learning and experimentation.
