WEDNESDAY JULY 3
Foragers
The documentary "Foragers" (64'), directed by Jumana Manna (64', English subtitles), will be screened on Wednesday July 2, 2025, at the Neochori Cultural Center at 9pm. Agata Lisiak, Professor of Migration Studies at Bard Berlin, will introduce the film.
Summary: Foragers is a poetic and polemical film exploring the politics of Palestinian foraging under Israeli law, challenging colonial definitions of land, legality, and belonging. While the Israeli Nature Protection Authority prohibits the collection of the artichoke-like ’akkoub and za’atar (thyme), with restrictions resulting in trials for hundreds caught collecting these native plants, Palestinian foragers actively and creatively contest these laws as a 'scientific' ruse to further alienate them from their land.
